That “verbal Photoshop” metaphor hit hard. It’s wild how often we auto-edit our truth into something more polished… safe, but sterile. Appreciate the reminder to answer with honesty over optics. We don’t need airbrushed conversations. We need real connection.

It's wild indeed! Almost automatic. I'm glad the concept resonated.

You're inside my brain! This has very much been on my mind this year -- responding to "How are you?" with REAL answers only, even if the answer is just "Tired."

Ahh, I love this and it's something I'm working on. One of our new Chicago neighborhood friends is so completely unfiltered whenever we talk to him, and as a result, we've gotten to know him so much more quickly than others we've met. I'm always kind of in awe of him because I tend to take a while to warm up and be truly vulnerable with people. Not this guy though, and we love him for it!

He sounds like the ideal new local friend! It doesn’t always come naturally to me either, but I love meeting people for whom it does.

Dear Bree,

“I didn’t second-guess myself in the writing itself. I’m proud of that.”

May your vulnerability, courage, and faith serve as a lamp unto your feet.

With deep admiration,

🙏
