I love this. It makes complete sense to me, but like others I wonder if the reality of sustaining a business would prevent this from being a beautiful reality? Perhaps more practically, it makes another great case for the standard 4 day week?! Still hit goals, but plan from the offset to value everyone's time?

I suppose the downside to the annual retirement plan, is that if you DON'T hit enough revenue to exceed your costs "early", then you just ... keep working like any other business. And certainly if the business is operating at a loss each year after working the full year there are other problems!

I love the 4 day workweek as you mention, because it bakes in the time "off" from the get go. But of course, as you mention, it would have to be sustainable as well!
