If it doesn't make sense to a more intelligent alien race, it doesn't make sense
The alien test:
You come from an advanced civilization from across the galaxy and are here to observe Earth in action. As you’re making your rounds, you notice these things called ties—luxurious strangling devices that humans, in particular male humans, tend to wear when trying to impress other humans. You wonder what function they serve… Ties look a lot like the leashes humans put on the dogs they hold prisoner… Or maybe male human necks get particularly chilly in the offices they keep at 62 degrees… Interestingly, these noosed humans seem to always want to loosen their ties or take them off and yet they put them on again the next day. Perhaps they should consider a more flexible neck scrunchie or throat koozie if they insist on neck things. Humans, amirite?!
